In August 2022 work in China was slightly affected by Covid restrictions but we were still able to complete FATs on more than 960sqm of outdoor and indoor LED screens including fixed installation, events ready, transparent and curvable screens. In February 2022 we were still kept busy despite the Chinese New Year Holiday. We inspected a range of different screens from GOB fixed install, indoor product to rental events ready screens. During January 2022 we were almost fully booked for FATs across a number of different factories, inspecting almost 1800 sqm of LED screen product. FATs covered a wide range of specifications; from small pitch indoor fixed install and event screens to outdoor billboards and perimeter systems. 2021 saw markets open, business develop, only to grind to a halt as new variants of Covid-19 brought new restrictions and lockdowns but despite this we saw growth on 2020 and there are positive signs for 2022.
During 2021 our FAT client base increased by 30% as travel restrictions prevented overseas travel into China and our Shenzhen & Dongguan FAT teams were increasingly busy as we expanded our normal manufacturing areas of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huizhou to include locations farther afield such as Jiangsu.
Overall 2021 saw an increase of 16% in FATs over 2021 but December saw us break records with the most number of FAT days completed since we started business in 2006. This continued into 2022 with a record breaking January, again the best ever.
As of May, 2022 has seen our FAT client base expand by a further 26% with numbers matching pre-Covid levels and the best March since 2017. What is really exciting is that as of May our FAT order book already exceeds 2021.
